What compliance teams should know.
The ACORD 25 (Certificate of Liability Insurance) is a one-page summary a vendor’s producer issues to a certificate holder. Editions 2016/03 and 2025/12 both circulate; DueFiles stores the edition string.
The form itself says a statement on the certificate does not confer rights in lieu of endorsement(s). Additional Insured and Waiver of Subrogation checkboxes are broker assertions, not proof.
Real rights live on policy endorsements such as CG 20 10, CG 20 37, CG 24 04, and CG 20 01.
Use the governing documents.
This reference is educational. A certificate summarizes represented coverage and does not amend a policy. Confirm requirements and coverage questions with the relevant contract, endorsement, insurer, broker, counsel, or qualified advisor.
